Alex Roylance - Director of Buildings and Grounds

Alex Roylance was born and raised in Springville and he enjoys living here with his wife and three children. Alex started working for Springville City in 1982 as a Canyon Parks Seasonal Worker. Since that time he has worked his way up through the ranks to become the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Alex oversees the Canyon Parks, Cemeteries, Facilities Maintenance, City Parks, Urban Forestry, and Winter Recreation departments as well as serving as the City Forester.
Alex graduated from Springville High and went on to receive an AS degree from UVSC in Biology and a BS degree from the University of Utah in Exercise and Sport Science/Coaching. He has also pursued his passion of trees and urban forestry. Alex is currently a Certified Arborist and a Certified Municipal Specialist through the International Society of Arboriculture. He currently serves as the President of the Utah Community Forest Council and the Utah Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture. Alex is also an instructor for the Utah Community Forest Council's Arborist Apprentice program as well as the Spring Arborist Series and has helped to train many professional arborists and foresters around Utah.
Alex has had the pleasure of helping Springville develop and build Jolley's Ranch, Rotary Park, Clyde Park, Hobble Creek Park, Freedom Park, and several other parks and green spaces throughout our community. Over his many years with Springville City, he has been able to be involved in much of the development of our community. Alex has also been instrumental in developing Springville's Urban Forestry program which has been modeled in several communities in Utah.
Alex is looking forward to many exciting future projects that will benefit his Springville neighbors. Some of these projects include the development of a new library, community park, Wayne Bartholomew Family Park, Cherrington Park and hopefully a recreation center. There are also many park improvement projects that he hopes to complete in our existing city and canyon parks. Alex enjoys his work and is excited about helping Springville grow.
